Imagine losing your parents to AIDS and being alone and vulnerable in the world. That is the experience of millions of orphans throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
For orphans with speech and hearing impairments life is even more of a challenge. Many are locked in a world of silence. In Africa, disabled children often do not get the care they need and losing parents isolates these children even more.
Schools like The Good Samaritan in Kitengeesa offer a home from home and a primary education for these children - plus a future they would otherwise never had had. Volunteer teachers have scraped by for years in makeshift classrooms, with totally inadequate facilities, to try and give these young children a chance in life.
With the help of long term supporter JLT Risk Solution AB and its employees, HOPEHIV has been able to dramatically upgrade the facilities at the school, including new classrooms, toilet and shower facilities. JLT have also supported us for the last three years to hold a Christmas party for all the students and staff.
